I told my boss about my recently diagnosed Fibro and he e-mailed our HR department. An hour or so later, the chief Health & Safety Officer rang me 'to see how I was coping' and asking me questions about my chair, the atmosphere where I sit (we have an air-con problem and I get frequent cold draughts buffeting from the filing cabinets! I deal with it by putting a blanket over my legs and hips and a thick cardi over my shoulders - it works, until I get up from my chair in agonies and stiff as a stiff thing!)
He wants me to see their occupational health nurse and he has also recommended neurostructural integration technique, because he understands the pain is caused by dodgy neurotransmitters in the brain.
Has anyone ever had this treatment and if so, does it work? I get really bad (what I have discovered is...) myofascial pain in my buttocks through sitting all day - I told the guy this and he says I have to get up every half an hour for a 5 minute walk around. I know they are only trying to cover their own backs, but I'd love to know if anyone else has had similar experiences with their bosses/HR depts? I'm worried it will affect the future of my job and I can do without the worry, really.
Thanks for any help/advice!
